US Elections 2024: Kamala Harris to Break 8-Year Hiatus with Fox News Interview

Vice President Kamala Harris set for her first formal Fox News interview since 2016.

As the 2024 US elections approach, Democratic presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled for a notable interview with Fox News, marking her first appearance on the network in eight years. The interview with Fox News Channel’s chief political anchor, Bret Baier, will take place on October 16 at 6 p.m. This will be the first time a Democratic candidate has sat down with Fox News for a formal interview since 2016.

Although Harris has given interviews to various outlets, including an appearance on ABC News in September, this interview with Fox News takes her into new territory. According to AP, it marks the first time since being nominated for the presidential race that Harris has engaged with a media outlet typically seen as outside her comfort zone.

The interview will be part of Bret Baier’s “Special Report,” which will air from the critical swing state of Pennsylvania. “Special Report” is a key program for Fox News, regularly topping cable news ratings, and it has played a central role in shaping discussions ahead of the elections, as political figures from opposing parties debate over national issues.

In August 2024, Tesla CEO Elon Musk interviewed former President Donald Trump on Spaces, kicking off a series of high-profile election interviews. Harris, who had been previously criticized for avoiding media engagements, especially compared to her Republican counterpart, has now taken steps to change that narrative. At an event in Greenfield on October 13, Harris took a jab at Trump for refusing to release his medical records and for avoiding a “60 Minutes” interview, seeking to counter criticism over her own media appearances.
